What you should not do is attempt to remove or replace a PGT window yourself, especially an impact-rated unit. PGT windows are heavy – a WinGuard single-hung can weigh 60 to 80 pounds depending on size. If the old window was installed with fasteners into the concrete tie-beam and then foamed and flashed, getting it out without damaging the stucco or the opening is skilled work. And once the old window is out, the rough opening needs a properly installed sill pan and flashing sequence or you’ll have a water intrusion problem you won’t notice until it’s a mold problem.
