Therma-Tru Window Installation: The Mangonia Park Owner’s Guide

We install and replace Therma-Tru window components throughout Mangonia Park, with most jobs running between $145 and $385 per window depending on the part and its age. Typically, we’re able to complete the work the same visit once we’ve matched your existing unit to the correct replacement component. Most homeowners call us after noticing a sash that won’t stay up, a draft that wasn’t there last spring, or condensation fogging between the glass panes that won’t wipe away. Those are all fixable problems, but only when the replacement part actually matches what Therma-Tru built for your specific window line, which is where the trouble usually starts.

Which Therma-Tru Models This Applies To

Therma-Tru doesn’t make one universal window part. Over the years they’ve produced several residential window families, and each has its own hardware set, balance system, and seal dimension. The most common lines we see across Palm Beach County include the older Benchmark vinyl windows, the later SlimLine and Classic-Craft window series, and the mid-range vinyl and fiberglass units sold through Florida building supply houses between roughly 2005 and 2018. Each of these takes different jamb liners, pivot bars, and tilt-latch assemblies. A part that fits a SlimLine double-hung will not fit a Benchmark unit from the same year, even if the visible hardware looks close.

If you still have the original window label, look in the top corner of the frame for a small foil sticker. It’ll list a series name and sometimes a manufacturing code. We can match from that. If the sticker’s gone, we measure the sash thickness, the balance shoe pocket shape, and the cam pivot size, which narrows the field fast. For Therma-Tru specifically, we recommend sourcing the OEM part when it’s still available. Some of the aftermarket balance shoes and tilt latches we’ve seen out there are cast too thin and they shear within a year in Florida’s heat-cycling. We’ve had to re-replace enough of those in Mangonia Park that we’re selective about what we’ll install. Winslow Windows & Doors is an independent service provider, not affiliated with Therma-Tru, so we’ve got no loyalty to their catalog except that parts match and hold up.

Signs Your Therma-Tru Window Installation Is Failing

  • The sash drops when you let go. The spring or constant-force balance inside the jamb has lost tension or the shoe snapped. Common on second-floor windows in Mangonia Park that get full afternoon sun, which accelerates metal fatigue inside the balance assembly.
  • You have to lift the bottom corner before it’ll close. The pivot bar under the sash has slipped out of its shoe, usually after a hard slam or years of salt air working on the original plastic clip.
  • The tilt latches won’t stay locked. The spring inside the latch housing breaks, and the latch stays open, letting the sash flop forward. This is the most common Therma-Tru call we get, and the latch is tiny, cheap, and quick to swap.
  • Outside air is streaming in around the sides, even locked. The weatherstripping in the jamb has compressed past the point of recovery, or the corner gaskets at the meeting rail have torn away.
  • Fog or moisture between the glass. The insulating glass unit’s seal failed, which is an IGU replacement rather than hardware. It’s the same Therma-Tru frame, but the fix is a new sealed unit cut to the original opening.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

Here’s what a Therma-Tru window installation or part replacement typically costs in Mangonia Park, based on the most common failures we see:

  • Balance shoe and pivot bar replacement: $55-$115 per window, parts and labor.
  • Tilt latch pair: $35-$75 per window.
  • Full jamb liner set with balances: $125-$210 per window.
  • Weatherstripping and gasket replacement: $40-$90 per window.
  • IGU replacement for fogged glass: $220-$475 per panel, depending on size and glass package.

Every price we give is a line-item quote before we start, parts and labor separated, and it doesn’t change once we’ve opened the window. No change orders after the fact. The Done Right Promise applies here too: if the part or the install isn’t done right, we come back and make it right. That’s Ed Winslow’s standard, and it’s been the basis of our business in Mangonia Park since 2011.

DIY or Call Us?

You can safely check for a blown balance or a broken tilt latch by opening the window about six inches and looking at the side channel inside the jamb, but we’d stop there. The tricky part with any Therma-Tru replacement is that everything in the jamb has to match: the shoe profile, the sash weight rating, the pivot bar depth. If the balance is rated for a lighter or heavier sash than yours, the window may not stay open, and it can yank the pivot bar out of the frame on the way down. We’ve straightened out enough of those in Mangonia Park to respect how quickly a small mismatch turns into a bigger repair. None of this involves line voltage or high-tension springs, but the hardware is under enough load that a wrong guess can break the sash corner. If you’re not sure what you’re looking at, call (561) 928-0302 and we’ll talk you through it before anyone gets in a truck.

We keep common Therma-Tru balances, tilt latches, pivot bars, and jamb gaskets on the truck, so most Mangonia Park jobs are one visit. We also stock compatible hardware for PGT, CGI, and CWS windows, since plenty of homes around here have a mix across the same floor plan.

What Neighbors Say About Winslow Windows & Doors

★★★★★

"A tile roof repair and new windows from the same company meant one crew, one permit runner, and nobody blaming the other trade. Ed checked the roof work himself before the tarp came off."

HHenrietta Pemberton
★★★★★

"He replaced the front door and the garage door in the same week, both rated for impact, and lined the frames up so straight my level had nothing to say. My wife stopped hearing the highway from the front room."

MMaximilian Vasquez
★★★★★

"We sat out a hurricane behind the windows Ed put in. The gusts threw a neighbour's trampoline down the street and the loudest thing in our house was the kettle. I rang him after to say thank you and he answered his own phone, same as always."

TThaddeus Okonkwo
★★★★★

"Someone tried the back slider while we were away. The glass crazed and held, the alarm never had to earn its keep, and the police report reads better than it might have. Ed came out the next morning to check the frame himself."

CCornelius Adeyemi
★★★★★

"Ed measured every opening himself and walked me through the product approval paperwork before I signed anything. When the inspector came he found the notice of acceptance taped inside a window like it should be and passed us first visit."

RRosalind Beaumont
★★★★★

"Three big companies quoted us and every one sent a salesman with a leased truck. Ed turned up in a truck with his own name on the door, quoted less, and his crew were the same faces on day one and day nine."
