Therma-Tru Door Installation: The Mangonia Park Owner’s Guide

Therma-Tru door installation in Mangonia Park typically runs $1,100 to $3,400 for a full entry door replacement, depending on the slab, frame condition, and whether you’re upgrading to an impact-rated unit. We stock Therma-Tru-compatible hinges, sweeps, thresholds, and weatherstripping on our trucks, so most part failures are diagnosed and repaired the same day. The most common sign something’s wrong: the door drags across the threshold, daylight shows around the frame, or the bottom sweep has crumbled after a few Florida summers of sun and humidity.

We’re an independent installer, not affiliated with Therma-Tru, which means we fit whatever Therma-Tru product you already have and tell you honestly whether a part is worth replacing or whether the slab itself has reached the end of its useful life. Around Mangonia Park, we see two failure patterns over and over: foam-core slabs that have soaked up moisture from storm-driven rain, and frames that have shifted in sandy soil, throwing the reveal off by an eighth of an inch.

Which Therma-Tru Models This Applies To

We install and service parts across Therma-Tru’s residential lineup, including the Classic-Craft, Fiber-Classic, Smooth-Star, Pulse, and Benchmark series. The gotcha most Mangonia Park homeowners hit: Therma-Tru slabs are all fiberglass or composite on the face, but the internal construction varies wildly. Classic-Craft uses a dense polyurethane core with a wood-grain finish; Smooth-Star is a smoother, painted finish over a foam core; Pulse is a broader-stile fiberglass door. A replacement hinge set or sweep that fits Classic-Craft won’t automatically fit Smooth-Star, even if both doors are 36 inches wide. Before you order any part, look for the Therma-Tru label on the hinge edge of the slab. It lists the series, model number, and sometimes the manufacture date. If the label’s been painted over, measure the slab thickness and hinge mortise spacing, and bring us a photo of the door edge. We can identify it in about sixty seconds.

On the OEM-versus-aftermarket question: for hinges, sweeps, and weatherstripping, we carry high-quality aftermarket parts that are dimensionally identical to what Therma-Tru shipped from the factory. For anything involving the lock bore or the fiberglass skin itself, we recommend OEM or direct Therma-Tru replacement components. Fiberglass slab repair with aftermarket fillers never holds up the way a proper factory replacement does, especially in South Florida humidity. If the slab is compromised, we’ll tell you straight: a new Therma-Tru unit installed clean is often less money than patching a door that’ll fail again in eighteen months.

Signs Your Therma-Tru Door Installation Is Failing

  • Door drags or scrapes across the threshold. This usually means the bottom sweep has worn flat, or the slab has settled because the hinge screws lost their bite in the jamb. In Mangonia Park’s sandy soil, door frames shift slowly over time, and the reveal goes out of square before you even notice the scrape.
  • Visible daylight or a draft around the frame edge. Weatherstripping compresses and loses memory, especially the kerf-style strip on Therma-Tru frames. If you can see light at the latch side, the Q-Lon or vinyl gasket is done and the door is leaking conditioned air into the humidity.
  • The sweep crumbles when you touch it. UV exposure and heat destroy flexible vinyl and rubber sweeps faster here than almost anywhere in the country. A sweep that flakes off in chunks is years past replacement.
  • Screws won’t tighten in the top hinge. This is the classic sign the jamb side has been stressed, often because the door was installed without a long screw into the framing behind the hinge. Every Therma-Tru hinge replacement we do in Mangonia Park includes that structural screw; skipping it is why doors sag again within a year.
  • Corner seal pads on the bottom of the slab are missing or warped. These small foam blocks do a surprising amount of work keeping rain out of the threshold channel. Once they’re gone, water gets under the door and the threshold starts to rot from the inside.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

Here’s what we’re seeing across Mangonia Park for Therma-Tru door work right now:

Service Typical Installed Price
Bottom sweep replacement, including adjustment $85 to $140
Full weatherstripping set with kerf replacement $160 to $240
Hinge set replacement with structural screws $120 to $200 per hinge pair
Threshold replacement (adjustable, mill finish) $220 to $380
Full Therma-Tru slab replacement in existing frame $900 to $1,700
Complete Therma-Tru door and frame installation $1,600 to $3,400

Every quote is written, line-itemed, and fixed before we start. Parts are listed separately from labor. If the frame is salvageable, we say so and keep you in the lower range. If it’s not, we show you why with photos and measurements before we ask for a dollar. The workmanship warranty comes along with the installation, and Ed Winslow’s name is on the invoice, not a ticket number. You’ll also get $40 off any repair over $200, and if you have a written estimate from another company, bring it by and we’ll give you a free second opinion.

DIY or Call Us?

Replacing a bottom sweep on a Therma-Tru door is genuinely doable if you’re comfortable with a drill and the slab is already off its hinges. What we don’t recommend: pulling the slab, re-mortising hinge pockets, or trying to rebuild a sagging jamb. Fiberglass slabs weigh more than they look like they will, and a drop onto concrete damages the skin beyond repair. If the frame has shifted, the fix requires shimming behind the jamb and re-anchoring the hinge screws into framing, which means pulling trim and getting the reveal square again with a level and patience. One wrong cut into the jamb and you’re looking at a full frame replacement instead of a $150 repair.

If the door drags, scrapes, or won’t latch cleanly, call (561) 928-0302 and describe what you’re seeing. We’ll tell you over the phone whether it’s a sweep swap or a frame correction, and we’ll show up with the right parts the first time.

What Neighbors Say About Winslow Windows & Doors

★★★★★

"A tile roof repair and new windows from the same company meant one crew, one permit runner, and nobody blaming the other trade. Ed checked the roof work himself before the tarp came off."

HHenrietta Pemberton
★★★★★

"He replaced the front door and the garage door in the same week, both rated for impact, and lined the frames up so straight my level had nothing to say. My wife stopped hearing the highway from the front room."

MMaximilian Vasquez
★★★★★

"We sat out a hurricane behind the windows Ed put in. The gusts threw a neighbour's trampoline down the street and the loudest thing in our house was the kettle. I rang him after to say thank you and he answered his own phone, same as always."

TThaddeus Okonkwo
★★★★★

"Someone tried the back slider while we were away. The glass crazed and held, the alarm never had to earn its keep, and the police report reads better than it might have. Ed came out the next morning to check the frame himself."

CCornelius Adeyemi
★★★★★

"Ed measured every opening himself and walked me through the product approval paperwork before I signed anything. When the inspector came he found the notice of acceptance taped inside a window like it should be and passed us first visit."

RRosalind Beaumont
★★★★★

"Three big companies quoted us and every one sent a salesman with a leased truck. Ed turned up in a truck with his own name on the door, quoted less, and his crew were the same faces on day one and day nine."
